Copyrighted doesn't necessarily mean that it can't be used, even for free in some cases. Even a song you compose yourself is copyrighted, as are the free to use songs covered by Creative Commons licenses.
Can you be more specific? Are you wanting to put the latest pop hit in your video or just some music?

Royalty free music is different. You can use that with no problem. A good place for free music is this.

I just copied this from another thread. This seems to come up a lot.
All of these can be used for free, provided you give credit to the author (in most cases, check the license first). I put in the the credits at the end of the video. Others put it in the description.
