Hello! I'll Review Your Channel!

darkstarmedia

Words are great.
A lot of people have been kind enough to review my channel recently and I'd really like to give back to the community and return the favour. So, I'm happy to do some reviews!

I'll more than happily check out your channel, give you my honest first impressions and say what I like and what can be improved on. I'll also look at your latest and most popular videos, if you'd like!

I will aim to get these done as soon as I can, although if I get a lot, this may take a while!

Sweet!! :) Can you review my channel please?? Any feedback on what things to improve like in my videos and my channel banner/video thumbnails/outro, all that good stuff??

Be honest and please don't be too harsh and i really appreciate your review/feedback!! :)

Thank you for doing this!!@darkstarmedia

Thanks for doing this. I'm curious what your first impression of my channel is. How is my channel art? Should it instead have a scene from one of my videos?

Also, I'm curious what you'd think of my few Let's Plays I've done. I like my Ranger X and DBZ ones the best.

Thanks a lot for offering these reviews! It'd really be nice to get off on the right foot in terms of my channel direction here in the new year.

  • Okay, the first thing I noticed was the channel art. While it certainly catches the eye, it might be doing so for all the wrong reasons. It doesn't look very professional and it looks like something you threw together in Paint that took all of 3 seconds. Now, I totally understand that we're not all digital artists, but it does look pretty amateur and might not give the greatest impression of your channel. You know what they say about Comic Sans! It's why I use it in meme format in my own videos. I would advise different colours or shades that aren't as garish together; looking at it for too long gave me a headache, even with glasses on.
  • All that being said, you are straight to the point with what your channel is about, so the viewer knows exactly what they're getting themselves into. And hey, over 3000 subscribers; you can't scoff at that, can you? And the hand-drawn Twitter icon is a cute little touch.
  • Your photo is okay. Don't worry; I'm not calling you ugly! It shows people what you look like, but it does look like your standard snapshot. Believe me, flash is not kind to a lot of people. If you want a slightly better and more polished impression of your channel, see if there's anyone who can take a headshot for you or maybe design an avatar? Heck, if all else fails, taking a selfie against a plain background can do the trick until you have some better options. You'd be surprised at how much it can do! I'm a photographer, so if you were near me, I'd have happily done one for you!
  • Your thumbnails are quite busy - maybe don't use as much text if you can. That said, your titles are attention-grabbing and your expressions are great!
  • You're straight to the point in your videos, which I like. I noticed that you looked away a lot and used a lot of jump cuts, but I understand that it's easier for some people to record in shorter bursts.
  • You do sound very scripted at points, but again, that's okay if you're still learning. I'm still able to tell how much you enjoyed your holiday! Watched your 2015 Rewind video!
  • You come across as very enthusiastic in your writing, which is very infectious!
I think that's all I can think of for now. I hope that this is helpful to you and I wish you all the best with the growth of your channel in the future![DOUBLEPOST=1452565777,1452564446][/DOUBLEPOST]

  • Okay, again, the first thing that I noticed was your channel art - but this time, I was oddly amused and impressed and how it matched the inverted colours of your avatar. Speaking of which, change 'em both. You don't want to use an avatar of Elsa as it's copyrighted and I'm sure you'd rather have your own identity and the quality of the channel art photo is simply terrible. It looks like a webcam image that was taken in the dark and trust me, those never look good when blown up. It looks tacky, plus neither of those things tell me who you are or what your channel is really about. Ideally, you want something of a better resolution so it looks crisper and cleaner. Try and use things that look good together, while still celebrating what unique about you and your work.
  • Having seen that your channel is about horror-fying popular culture - firstly, love the concept! Can't get enough of that kinda stuff. I would still change your icon - maybe design a logo?
  • I like your channel trailer! It makes it perfectly clear what your channel is about, and the "subscribe" part at the end was a nice little touch; I liked that.
  • I went to watch your version of Hello by Adele, and couldn't because it's been blocked on copyright grounds. That I would say is going to be your main issue. I'm no lawyer so I'm not going to throw legal mumbo-jumbo at you, but I do know that YouTube (and apparently the universe) are a lot more on their guard with things like that and I'm worried that you might be in trouble.
  • Holy frijoles, 7 million views on a video! That's very impressive and you should be proud of that. I saw that your videos are monetised and honestly, I don't know how YouTube is going to take that because I know they get super funny about certain covers or parodies being monetised. It's a funny old industry.
  • For your Let's Plays, I noticed that you haven't done any in quite a while? You appear to have found your favoured niche in the form of Horror Versions, but you maintain good commentary throughout the games. You seem interested in the game, although there are points at which you sound pretty bored. I know it can't be helped most of the time, especially if you're getting really into it and forget you're recording!
  • Overall, I'd say your channel sounds very interesting! I really do like the concept of it, although the inverted colours are very distracting! All of this being said, you've been doing it a while so it's obvious that you like doing what you do, as do 7000+ other people! So, keep doing what you're doing, and hopefully you don't get in trouble with the copyright strike brigade!

I would love to get a review! If you would like I could return the favour as well... (and if you could tell me if my review was insightful that would help!)

Of course if you aren't finding the time to complete all your requests, please feel free to skip mine, I'll try again another day, eh?
