Request Can anyone help with thumbnail

Hello again guys,
I'm looking to design a new thumbnail for my channel, but don't where to start, i have gimp but it's driving me mental, can anyone suggest an easy way to make a decent thumbnail, Thanks.
 
In GIMP use a solid colour bottom layer black for example and drop some white text on a layer above it, thats my only suggestion for something very basic but it would work.
 
Gimp takes some patience.

What I always do when I'm needing to learn something quick is watch a few tutorials on the subject. Usually on YouTube. lol

I'm getting ready to do that now actually... in order to learn how to make a decent intro and end card. Ugggh. lol
 
I made my thumbnail in GIMP, it took me a minute, here is 5 easy steps to making a simple one!

1.) create new picture 800 x 800,
2.) use the "fill tool" to change the background colour,
3.) click the "text tool" and type what you like,
4.) click "file", then "export to", then type the name of the picture, then click "save",
5.) then you can upload it to youtube by clicking on "channel settings", then change the thumbnail to the picture you just made! :D
